Cumming, GA -- This photo was sent to us by a viewer from the Cumming area.

I captured this as the storm was rolling in and the sun was setting. There also was a rainbow on the other side of my house.

There are two lovely, slaphappy, public office-related messes playing-out right now in Atlanta you won’t want to miss a moment of: the APS cheating scandal and Governor Deal’s trail of dubious dealings.

Thing is, the media attentions applied to both situations are so random and all-over-the-place it’s like Dick Cheney on a quail hunt; you never know where the shots are coming from, nor what they’re going to hit.

There is no clearinghouse of information, so you’re bound to miss something… if you’re not paying close attention.

Goodwill receives $5.7 million grant to help those in need

ATLANTA -- Good news is coming for many Georgians who are struggling to find jobs.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis recently announced that Goodwill of North Georgia will receive $5,724,222 to help people with barriers to employment, namely ex-offenders and low-income non-custodial parents, obtain the skills they need to find work.

The funds will go toward an Enhanced Transitional Jobs Demonstration program, which offers temporary paid work experiences to more than 3,500 people nationwide. The program improves participants' employability, earnings and opportunities for advancement, not to mention their self-sufficiency and long-term success in the workforce.

"This grant provides needed support to individuals who face significant obstacles to employment," Solis said.

Alternate: Exit onto Forest Pkwy (Exit 237) and follow Westbound to Old Dixie Hwy. and turn right. Follow Old Dixie Hwy. across I-75 where it becomes Tara Blvd. Follow Tara Blvd. to Mt Zion Road and turn left. Follow Mt Zion Road to Mt. Zion Blvd. Turn left on Mt. Zion Blvd and follow back to I-75 Southbound.
