CUMMING, Ga. -- A senior member of an online child pornography ring has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Joseph Gittings was arrested in November 2009 as part of the international takedown of the Boy Lover Network (BLN) web forum.

ATLANTA -- A Dawsonville woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for stealing money from an Atlanta law firm.

Ola Suzanne Stowers, 34, must also pay $260,171.94 in restitution. She pleaded guilty on Apr. 4 to charges of bank fraud and identity theft.

According to information presented in court, Stowers worked as a closing paralegal and database manager for the law firm for nearly 11 years.

In June 2008, she was instructed to close a Bank of America account that belonged to the firm. Instead, Stowers changed the account's address to that of her home and transferred $176,946.79 into it from a law firm escrow account, according to U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

Stowers allegedly began writing checks from the Bank of America account for her own personal use.

MILTON, Ga. -- A 25-year-old Canton man is accused of killing the mother of his children in front of them.

Christopher Erdman waived his first appearance hearing Monday morning. He faces a number of charges, including murder, aggravated assault, cruelty to children and tampering with evidence.

According to Capt. Shawn McCarty with the Milton Police Department, Erdman shot 25-year-old Shannon Lawrence four times in the face and neck in the parking lot of the Birmingham Crossroads shopping center in Milton on Sunday.

McCarty said the former couple had two children together and used the shopping center as the drop-off point when exchanging custody of the kids.

The couple's children witnessed the shooting, according to McCarty.

Dispatchers received a call of shots fired at around 2 p.m.

Feds crack down on prescription drug trafficking

ATLANTA -- A federal grand jury in Atlanta has charged a total of 13 defendants from two states with illegally trafficking in oxycodone and other prescription drugs.

The two cases arise out of intensified efforts to address Georgia's growing problem with prescription drug abuse.

"Prescription drug abuse is our nation's fastest-growing segment of illegal drug use, causing significantly more overdose deaths than cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin combined," said United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

In the first incident, 11 Georgia residents were charged with conspiring to forge oxycodone prescriptions and sell the illegally obtained tablets.

Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested

Arrests have been made in the robbery/home invasion that happened last week and left a homeowner shot in the leg.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has arrested four suspects in connection with two ambush-style home invasion robberies in Forsyth County.

Cumming, GA--  (submitted by Forsyth County Sheriff's Office) On Saturday March 26, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit served search warrants on two area businesses, shutting down illegal gambling operations.  Both businesses were operating gambling machines and were paying out cash payments to players.

Hammond’s Crossing Exxon at 3375 Keith Bridge Road was served with a search warrant and the business owner, Nahidul Hassan Khan was arrested and charged with Operating a Gambling Place a misdemeanor and Commercial Gambling, a felony.  An employee of the business, Mohammed Zahangir Alam, was also arrested and charged with one count of Commercial Gambling, a felony.  Additional arrests are pending.  .

Investigators also served a search warrant on Save Money Food Mart at 3671 B Hutchinson Road.  Arrest warrants have been obtained in this case and investigators are looking for a suspect at this time.

Man Who Survived Saturday Shooting Dies

FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) - A 52-year-old man has died three days after
he was found injured in a triple shooting at a Monroe County home.

Authorities say Walter Ronald Pruitt died Tuesday afternoon at
the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Authorities say Pruitt was
found with a gunshot wound Saturday at his home, while his wife, 43-year-old Alayna Pruitt and her mother, Sherry Price, were found shot to death.

Police say the shootings appear to be domestic, though
authorities have not released details on the incident. Police say
each victim was found with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police are investigating the shootings.
