It's time for the annual "Hike for Hyde"!
Hyde, a Cumming Resident along with his family, was diagnosed with Atypical HUS in 2008. For Hyde, this means “he has a mutation in the gene that produces Factor H – which helps control his immune system. Hyde has struggled with kidney failure, severe high blood pressure, anemia, extremely low platelets, and more.”
In February 2011, “Hyde became just the third person in the US to have a kidney transplant combined with Soliris (Eculizmab) therapy.”
All funds raised during “Hike for Hyde” will benefit the Foundation of Children with Atypical HUS (80%) and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (20%). “Over $52,000 has been raised the last two years!”
What an awesome community support!!
