Man dies after car flips on Ga. 400

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- A Cumming man was killed Wednesday when his car flipped several times on Ga. 400 in Alpharetta.

The three-car accident happened just north of Haynes Bridge Road.

According to Alpharetta Public Safety spokesman George Gordon, 67-year-old Edward Kivlin was driving his Nissan Pathfinder on the highway when the driver of a Honda Civic traveling in the adjacent lane lost control and swerved into his car.

The Honda and Nissan slid into a grassy area just off the road. The Honda was hit by a Dodge minivan, while Kivlin's car kept sliding, hit a guardrail, flipped and landed in an embankment.

Kivlin was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers were not identified; the driver of the Honda was taken to North Fulton Hospital, while the driver of the Dodge was not injured.

Gordon said the accident is still under investigation.
