CUMMING, Ga. -- Nobody was injured when a tractor trailer caught on fire Tuesday morning, but the incident briefly shut down northbound Ga. 400.
The tractor trailer's driver, 46-year-old Roger Harper of Winder, pulled over on Exit 14 when he heard his vehicle making strange noises, according to Cumming Police Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi.
When Harper didn't see anything wrong, he got back on the road, then saw flames coming from under his tractor trailer. He pulled over again on Exit 15, Zimbardi said.
Northbound Ga. 400 was closed while sheriff's officials investigated the fire and put it out.
Zimbardi said the tractor sustained extensive damage in the fire, but the trailer was virtually undamaged.
