Resident's hospital visit leads to animal hoarding bust
News

CUMMING, Ga. -- Charges are pending against a Forsyth County resident after finding nearly 30 dogs inside an area home.

The person, whose name has not yet been released, went to an area hospital seeking aid, a sheriff's office spokesperson told 11Alive.

While department officials haven't elaborated on how they received the information, they were soon able to secure a search warrant for the patient's home in the 5400 block of Franklin Goldmine Road.

There, deputies found 28 dogs - one of which was deceased.

Animal control has since been brought in to stabilize the animals and then turn them over to an area animal shelter.

Investigation is ongoing and officials expect to release more details in coming days.
