Former West Forsyth Player Fights Cancer, Loves College | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
ATHENS, Ga. - Former West Forsyth Wolverine Trey Rood wasn't able to continue playing football in college, but his incredibly strong will and support system means he's on campus loving life.
Trey had surgery for melanoma when he was only ten, then went on with school and football. Once again in his teenage years doctors spotted trouble. Still he was ready for a big senior season. But then, big trouble.
The tumors were so big and wide spread that he and his family made a decision to go to Germany for radically experimental treatments. He played a few downs in a few games, but mostly lent support to his teammates during his senior season.
More surgery followed in Houston, but he entered school at UGA in the fall of 2010. "I hope to go into finance, enter the Terry school of business" said Trey while sitting on the steps of Stegeman Coliseum. He's too busy looking forward and thinking positive to worry about any negatives.
