CUMMING, Ga. – Forsyth County is the fastest growing county in Georgia according to new data released by the United States Census Thursday.

According to the Census, 175,511 people called Cumming home in 2010.  That’s up 78.35 percent from the last Census in 2000.

Whites make up the vast majority of Forsyth County residents.  The white population grew in the county by 60.3 percent and now accounts for 85.4 percent of the total population.

Growth in the Asian community was explosive in Forsyth County.  The Asian population grew by 1,291.7 percent over the past ten years.  But, Asians only make up 6.2 percent of the county’s total population.

The Hispanic community grew by 202.2 percent between 2000 and 2010 in Forsyth County and accounts for 9.4 percent of the county’s population.
