BUFORD: Ala. to seek Supreme Court review of water feud

ATLANTA (AP) - Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley says his state will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to decide a water feud with Georgia.

His decision Monday came after the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals refused a request from Alabama and Florida to reconsider a ruling favorable to Georgia in a fight over water rights.

The full appeals court decided Friday that it won't reconsider a decision from an appeals panel that found metro Atlanta has the right to withdraw water from Lake Lanier, a reservoir northeast of the city that serves 3 million people. Florida officials say they are still considering their options.

Georgia supports the appeals panel ruling since it tossed aside a lower court's order that would have restricted Atlanta's water supply. Neighboring states say Atlanta uses too much water.

Sprint has released a new app for your smart phone that will disable the phone while you drive.

"Go to Sprint.com forward slash'Drive First'," Kristen Wallace of Sprint said, as she demonstrated how it works.

However, that wasn't good enough for us. We needed to put it to the test.

The app is supposed to disable the phone after you go over 10 miles per hour. It tracks your progress by tracking the phone from cell towers.

Also, if you make a phone call and then drive, the app will disconnect your call.

After a few start-up hiccups, on our test drive, it worked! You can disable the app or bypass it to call 911 while you're moving.
