CUMMING, Ga. -- Dirty Spokes Productions will host a scenic 5K and half marathon in Forsyth County this weekend.

Georgia Peach Jam will be Saturday, Apr. 18 at Big Creek Greenway. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department, as a thank you for allowing the race to be held at Fowler Park.

Runners will receive T-shirts and $5 gift certificates to Jim 'N Nick's BBQ, while half marathon finishers will be given commemorative medals. Race sponsor Dickey Farms will award jars of its Sweet Georgia Peach Jam to the winners.

Race this weekend: Running with Elvis

BUFORD, Ga. -- Get "all shook up" at an Elvis Presley-themed 5K this weekend.

The Running with Elvis 5K, Fun Run & Tot Trot will be Saturday, Sept. 13 at West Bank Park on the shores of Lake Lanier. Check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. and will be followed by the fun run at 8 a.m., the 5K at 8:15 a.m. and the tot trot at 9:15 a.m.

Race organizers describe the course as scenic, flat and fast. Runners who arrived dressed as Elvis will earn a 20-second head start on the 5K.

All participants will receive T-shirts, while awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers and top three runners in each age group.

Advance registration is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the fun run. The prices go up to $30 and $25, respectively, on race day. The tot trot is free.

Proceeds from the race will benefit programs at North Lanier Christian Academy.

CUMMING, Ga. -- Help adoptive and foster children in Forsyth County by running a colorful 5K this weekend.

Color Outside the Lines 5K covers participants in colorful powder as they tear through the course. It is fun and safe for runners of all ages.

The race will be held Saturday, July 12 at 8 a.m. at the Cumming Fairgrounds. Packet pick-up will be July 11 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sports Authority in the Mansell Crossing shopping center near North Point Mall.

Race finishers will be treated to a celebration featuring music, food and a giant paint throw. All runners will receive technical T-shirts, while awards will be given to the top finishers in each age group.

CUMMING, Ga. -- Not running the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race? That means you can participate in Forsyth County's We the Runners Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Sparkler Trot.

All races will be held Friday, July 4 at Fowler Park in Cumming.

Packet pickup and race day registration opens at 6:30 a.m. The half marathon and 10K will be off and running at 7:30 a.m.; the 5K will start at 7:45 a.m.; and the tot trot, open to children ages 10 and under, will start at 9 a.m.

Registration is $55 for the half marathon, $40 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K and $10 for the tot trot. All runners will receive T-shirts and race bags, while half marathon finishers will also get commemorative medals.

(WXIA) -- In honor of its role as sponsor of the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race, Mellow Mushroom is hosting a contest for the runners, athletes and weekend warriors in metro Atlanta.

The Atlanta-based pizza chain has debuted its Mellow Sports Sweep contest. Based on the old game show "Supermarket Sweep," the contest will give two lucky winners the opportunity to go on a 90-second shopping spree at Sports Authority.

To enter, create a 15-second Instagram video using #MellowSportsSweep explaining why you should win the contest.

The grand prize includes two race entries into the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race, one night at the W Atlanta - Buckhead, dinner for two at Mellow Mushroom and, of course, the Sports Authority sweep.

CUMMING, Ga. -- Cancer survivors can run the Cross Country Stampede 5K, an obstacle trail run in Forsyth County, for only $10.

The race will be held Saturday, May 17 at 8:30 a.m. at Watson Family Farm in Cumming.

More than 10 obstacles will be set up on a race trail that includes pasture, woods, water and mud. All runners will receive T-shirts, while cowbells will be given to the first male and female finishers, the first male and female masters finishers, the top three finishers in each age group, and all children ages 12 and under.

Registration is $35 per person, or $25 per person for groups of at least 10. Money raised by the Cross Country Stampede will benefit Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Additionally, race organizers will donate $2 to the American Cancer Society for every runner.

Atlanta Track Club launches scholarship program

Atlanta Track Club launches scholarship program

(WXIA) -- Youth running groups, rejoice -- the Atlanta Track Club has created a scholarship program just for you.

The Peachtree Jr. Participant Challenge will award scholarships to the three organizations that have the most children registered for the 2014 Peachtree Jr. or Lil' Peach Dash.

The first place team will be given a $1,500 scholarship, a $1,250 cash donation from the Atlanta Track Club and $250 in Sports Authority store credit. Two runners-up will each get $750 scholarships, $500 donations and $250 in Sports Authority credit.

"Through the Peachtree Jr. Participant Challenge, we are able to give back to organizations that share our goal of inspiring children to be healthier and more active," Atlanta Track Club Executive Director Rich Kenah said in a release. "Atlanta Track Club is proud to partner with Sports Authority to offer these scholarships to provide extra motivation to keep kids moving."
